April 19

I'm working on the new solar panels today.  Doing what I can do by myself and Ed, the handyman, will be over to get them installed and plugged the Jackerys tomorrow.  Keep your fingers crossed.

I've done a lot of research and if all goes well Tubby will have almost double the solar array.  She will have 400 watts on the roof and 400 portable panels.  This should reduce my dependence on the generator... Which will reduce my overhead.

I've enjoy my stay here at Lake Mead Park.  With my All.American senior pass I pay $12 a night.  It has baths, showers, potable water, dump station, dumpster and laundry. No hook up at the sites but the blooming Oleanders make up for that๐Ÿ˜.  I still like the national forest better.  But this was the place I needed to be to have my teeth pulled and deal with my heart attack.

Saturday and Sunday I plan to make an overnight trip to drive the 160 miles of Route 66 (the Mother Road) left in Arizona just like Gordon, Mikey and myself made so many years ago.  I miss them.  The dogs and I will go with our tents and find some field to camp in overnight. I'll also be going with Sharon to play $5 bingo Thursday and on Friday we will be having 15 beans soup with smoked hams hocks, fried cornbread, greens and hamhocks.  Oh what a Southern feast.  Maybe I can get Sharon to bake a water pie another southern recipe .

I'm off to pick up more tape for the install and see if I can find a rinse that will tone this orange hair down.  Boy does it look odd.  I can now say I've never bleached my hair.๐Ÿ˜ณ

Colorado River - Wow!

Hello from Lake Mead National Recreational Area!

I'm at Katherine Landing Campground, Mohove Lake, Colorado River, Laughlin, NV until my dental visits are complete.  Oh what beautiful blue water - which I will add Katie loves!

We are in the middle of a heat wave.

Mmmm... Here I sit...

What it looks like through the windshield of a tow truck...

Went out today to pick up tourist information and look for jeans (I ruined three pair with ball grease).  On my way back home. I developed a flat tire.  Got out, crawled under and yup it was flat.  I know I checked that before I left Georgia...

Big O was so kind... Diverted a driver, towed Buggy in, replaced back tires and put the best old tire under for spare and I was back on the road with new back A/T back knobby tires and a decent spare.

After getting back home found my diesel heater throwing a code and I ran out of propane for stove which waylaid dinner a bit.. outside I go fill a canister with propane. Pop the frozen pizza in the skillet with butter and cover, low heat.

Dinner then jumped in my sleeping back.

I am grateful for good coffee.

Twin Peaks CG Organ Pipe Catcus National Monument

Last night's dinner at Tubby.  Chicken with mixed veggies stir fry with Japanese spices. Yum!

Last photo of boondocking spot right before we pulled out this morning.

The last photo I took as I left the national forest land.

Here's Tubby and the gang at site this afternoon.  We'll be staying two nights before traveling on to Yuma, AZ.  Nice easy hiking trails, dump station, toilets, trash receptacle AND showers!  Yes this girl needs one ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Organ Cactus National Monument.  Twin Peaks campground - $20 per night plus entrance fee.  Unless you have an America The Beautiful card then it's $10 per night and entrance fee to the park is waived.  I love my senior card ♥️.

I hope this post find you right smack in the middle of a great day.

Until we meet again... Safe travels.

I'll miss this place

Here's a few photos of this mornings walk with the fur babies.

They had fun.  Wilber isn't a water dog but Katie makes up for that.

I'm loading up today.  If all goes well I'll be traveling for most likely two days... going west before I settle in for a few days.

Ohhh... See the watermark on the photos?  That will change to TravelingWithTubby.com.  I secured the url but only thing I want to do now is blog.  OH and I figured out how to turn on the comments here!
