5/9/26. Did I ever tell you about dragging a b*mb 😟

On my way from Nogales AZ to Bullhead City NV to see my Niece, Sharon Marie and have my teeth pulled. I had an issue...

I tied down as normal when I left Nogales.  I have always tied down my 2 - 2 gallon gas cans, 20lb propane tank and 5 gallon diesel fuel can with ratchet straps. I did the same this time but...

At some point in my travels I noticed no one passing me.   Mmmm I'm at about 35 mph at the top of the hill and still no one passing... So I pull off.  As I'm pulling off I hear SOMETHING.  You know that feeling right?

When I walked to the back of Tubby. I was proud to see my rachet straps still holding but nothing was on top of my cargo box!  Yep. I'm dragging 4 gallons of gas, 20lbs of propane and 3 gallons of diesel... BTW I had to abandon on the side of the road one very badly leaking gas can but the rest?  I threw them in Tubby, walked the fur babies and hit the road again. 

This is how I tie them down now.  Hopefully tomorrow I will get the box off.  With a new diesel heater I need a wider box.  Stay Tune.

Bomb averted.

May 3, 2026. New BLM

New campsite for a few days.  Need to rest the Buggy.  It's hard work pulling Tubby.

Left Bullhead City at 10:04 yesterday.

Flew through Las Vegas and could NOT find a sticker for Tubby's ceiling.

We are now on BLM land and it's beautiful!  Can't wait to explore!  Of course that's after searching down the loose connection on the solar system, checking out how the new panels did on the drive and working on a few other minor things. 

Im planning on pulling out tomorrow and heading for Death Valley and the sailing stones.

When did this happen?  I know I've been doing it for years... But for the life of me I don't know when it went from popping a vitamin a day...to planning my next months meds.

It's really pretty though... Isn't it?

Wow Tubby is back to being straighten up inside after two days of working on the interior solar panel wires running to the Jackerys.  Me being the slightly OCD person that I am felt like I would lose my mind before it was done.  I REALLY hate things that are not in order. 

Tomorrow will be my last denture appointment then I'm taking Sharon Marie to breakfast then we are off to do some junking at the bin store, thrift stores and maybe look for some stickers.  Wow am I going to miss her.  I've so enjoyed spending time with her and her friends.  Lots of good food, talks and laughs.

Back to work on the solar today.  I'm securing the interior wires.  The handyman will be here Thursday to finish off the outside. 

The panels are performing well.  I can't tell you how relieved I am.  Next test will be to find out if they are road worthy.

Oh I did get most all the stickers up on Tubby's ceiling.

Rest day from solar work.  Just a little more wire work and it be complete.  

I am very excited the panels are working.  I am so grateful you can't believe it.   My plans are still to pull out on May 1 and make my way to Oregon.

April 19

I'm working on the new solar panels today.  Doing what I can do by myself and Ed, the handyman, will be over to get them installed and plugged the Jackerys tomorrow.  Keep your fingers crossed.  

I've done a lot of research and if all goes well Tubby will have almost double the solar array.  She will have 400 watts on the roof and 400 portable panels.  This should reduce my dependence on the generator... Which will reduce my overhead.

I've enjoy my stay here at Lake Mead Park.  With my All.American senior pass I pay $12 a night.  It has baths, showers, potable water, dump station, dumpster and laundry. No hook up at the sites but the blooming Oleanders make up for that😁.  I still like the national forest better.  But this was the place I needed to be to have my teeth pulled and deal with my heart attack.  

Saturday and Sunday I plan to make an overnight trip to drive the 160 miles of Route 66 (the Mother Road) left in Arizona just like Gordon, Mikey and myself made so many years ago.  I miss them.  The dogs and I will go with our tents and find some field to camp in overnight. I'll also be going with Sharon to play $5 bingo Thursday and on Friday we will be having 15 beans soup with smoked hams hocks, fried cornbread, greens and hamhocks.  Oh what a Southern feast.  Maybe I can get Sharon to bake a water pie another southern recipe . 

I'm off to pick up more tape for the install and see if I can find a rinse that will tone this orange hair down.  Boy does it look odd.  I can now say I've never bleached my hair.😳

Hello from Lake Mead National Recreational Area!

I'm at Katherine Landing Campground, Mohove Lake, Colorado River, Laughlin, NV until my dental visits are complete.  Oh what beautiful blue water - which I will add Katie loves!
